Tucker Engine 33573

Postby 59fairlane » Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:49 pm

OK. I posted previously on the engines and we were able to locate the number we were supposed to.

33573.

I looked at the other post on the engines and this seems to corespond with the information in that post.

Does anyone have any record of that number?

Other numbers on the block: 4648 and 18726 These are located below the valve cover area on the block. What are these numbers? Parts numbers?

Here's the story on this motor:

The man that has it is very elderly. He says that a friend of his bought 14 of them at the auction they had of the Tucker invetory. He got this engine from him. Not sure what happened to the other 13. From looking at the other posts I would guess that they were parted out. He has had the engine ever since.

From looking at the other posts I see this auction took place in like 1952/53. This makes sense after talking to this man.

What do all of you think on this? Does it make sense?

Thanks again for all your help.

Engine 33573 was in the stockroom located in Building 4a when activity at the plant essentially came to a total end in March, 1949. I do not believe it was ever put in to a Tucker car. Thus, it probably then was in its orginal crate.

Wow. It's amazing the details that can be found on this site!! That's cool.

When was this "Liquidation" sale?

Man, it's a shame that this had to all happen to this company.

Were alot of these parted out? Any idea on how many engines were in the auction? The man said his friend bought 14 of them. I am just repeating what he said.

I thank all you Tucker enthusiasts for helping me with the info on this.
