Tucker in the family--Remake or real thing??

Postby youbetcha77 » Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:21 am

Hello,
My great-grandfather has owned a tucker for many years. It has been in their garage for oodles of time. I have never researched anything on these cars. It is a beige like color and I know its a tucker. They have a look all to their own. I do not have a title for it. I thought it was number 27 because of the manual and brochure having #27 wrote on it. But thats not the case since 27 was in a roll-over. Where is the serial number located at on these? All of my grandparents are deceased so information is limited. All I get from my Uncles and other family members is that he had the car for a long time, as long as they can remember, which doesnt help me much. My great-father live in Ohio, then Illinois and then retired and moved to missouri. He supposedly bought the car in Granite City Illinois. Again I am not certain. I read a earlier post about people always saying they found one and wanting attention and that. That isnt the case here. I dont need money and I dont need attention. The house where the car is at is being sold and I called someone that might be interested in it and they came back at me saying that the number couldnt be right because it says it was rolled over. I just wanted to find this car a good home where it will be in a private collection and not run through auction after auction. Some people dont understand the sentimental value that can be attached to material things. I just need help in finding out if this is a original car or a remake. Its hard for me to think someone spent a ton of money replicating the engine and all of that just for it to end up in my Grandfather's hands. Any help would be appreciated.
Open the front hood or trunk and look for the data plate on the firewall.

Any report to provide us?

Postby Larry Clark » Thu Dec 23, 2004 8:39 am

It has been some time since we were promised an update report on the possible Tucker car. While it is not likely that a missing Tucker car yet exists, for reasons previously documented by Richard Jones, there still could be a good story to be told as to what the car turned out to be (assuming it is not a Tucker car). Blaze, can we get your promised update? Thanks.
You said that you have one of the missing Tuckers? Please post photos and tell us what the i.d. plate says. Also, look in the rear to make sure that it does indeed have the original 335 flat-six under the hood. There were Tuckers in Minnesota long time ago and no one knows where they ended up and I am curious to find out if those cars were accounted for. But, I am still with the majority on this one, saying that all cars are accounted for except for the remains of unfinished cars and maybe one odd discovery that will accounted for someday.
