Jay thank you for this information. I am absolutely thrilled to know that Tucker number 1002 was sold to this dealership. When I bought my Tucker radio in January of 2010 from Shaw's Antiques Store in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the owner of the store explained that he also had two Tucker related documents involving his deceased father where his father had tried to buy a Tucker having been told that he must first buy accessories if he wanted a car. These documents are the subject of the earlier posted thread on this site with the category entitled "Tucker Documents"-I even included a picture of the building still standing. Although the owner would not part with the documents, he was willing to send me copies of same; but I do not have permission to post same. I therefore have attempted to describe them in the earlier thread. The documents are entitled "Sequence Allotment Form" and "Tucker Accessory Purchase Order". A Mr. Rick Short signed the documents on behalf of the Tucker Dealership (Tucker Arkansas Sales Corp.) and Mr. Shaw signed as the potential buyer. I was told by the owner of the store that his father Mr. Shaw never got his accessories or a Tucker. Both documents are dated August 2, 1948, and the franchise number is indicated as number 30,200. The father Mr. Shaw had paid $235.62 for Group No. Two of the accessories. Of interest also is the fact that the son Mr. Shaw had sold a Tucker Horn button out of his Hot Springs store before I got there. Now which Tucker did that come off of? Charles

Hedlund Motor Company, Inc., 330 Quincy Ave, Quincy, MA was in fact a Tucker Dealer.

Carl H. Hedlund had franchise #61602 and held a Tucker showing at his dealership on November 25 - 29, 1948. I found this interesting as this showing was very late in the life of Tucker Corporation.

On 11/24/2008 I did a live radio interview with State Senator Robert Hedlund (grandson), on WATD AM - Quincy MA and discussed the Tucker dealership and the showing. The guest that followed my segment was Mitt Romey.

We do have photocopies in the HCL speaking about the dealership and showing but have not discovered what car may have been displayed.

Jay

Thanks again, Jay! Very interesting. I'll pass this info on to my friend.

This is an interesting topic. After working at some new car dealerships back in the '80s I became interested in the buildings and signage used to sell new cars. I have always collected the literature and other items used to promote them. While most collectors seek new, uncirculated brochures I prize the ones with a dealer's rubber stamp or business card attached.

Three years ago I decided to locate and photograph all of the former AMC dealerships in this area, even if they had become a vacant lot. I posted my findings online as the Lost Dealership Project and interest really took off, even reaching the Hemmings Blog on occasion! Many long forgotten dealerships nationwide have been rediscovered thanks to a stamped brochure tossed into a box or drawer decades ago.

Thank you so much for posting this photo and your experiences in locating dealerships of the past. The Tucker Historical Collection and Library (the archive / museum collection of the Tucker Automoible Club of America, Inc.) has been building its Tucker dealerbase since 1998. Today we have 965 confirmed Tucker dealers of an estimated 2000 or more. All of those names came from researching newspaper ads, company documents and collectors sharing information just like this.

Again, THANK YOU!

Tucker Arkansas Sales Corp.
1509 Louisiana St.
Little Rock, AK

The state abbreviation should be AR not AK.

I know this property! Some several years ago it was a somewhat abandoned auto garage/repair facility. I was mentally working through about maybe acquiring, etc. About the time I had though I should try to find out about buying I noticed workmen about...It is now been rehabbed into a downtown townhouse/condo/apt.

Glad to help, uncovering almost half of the 2,000 dealerships is incredible! Can this list be found online?

Thanks for the correction on the state abbreviation for Arkansas.

We are currently working on updates to the Tucker site to provide a members area that will include photos, documents and a searchable Dealer locator.

With the 965+ dealers we have located I have to believe that there were more than 2000 - 2200 as earlier estimated. Several states we have only one or two listed for and some with nothing found yet. Georgia is a great example. We have found one dealer for the state yet we have a photo of a dealers meeting in Atlanta 1948 with about 50 people in the it.

Thanks,

Jay

Here are some more dealerships from an eBay listing. Maybe I'll look up the one in Kenosha when I'm there this summer.

Here's a pic of Alex and Chrissie Tremulis with a Mr. Kirkinis, who was to be the Tucker distributor for Athens, Greece. Anyone have any idea as to to location of this photo?
