2008 Convention - Ypsilanti, MI - Birthplace of the Dream
June 19-22, 2008

Well here we are, officially in spring. Just two months to go before the 2008 Convention. All set to go? Made your hotel reservations yet? Got your plane tickets? Mapped out a route?

I think you’ll agree we’ve put together another pretty exciting convention this year. I encourage you to make your reservations and send in your registration as soon as possible. Each year there are a few stragglers and last minute changes can wreak havoc on the tours and hotel (not to mention the convention hosts!).

There is so much to do in the Ypsilanti area that it’s become a real hot spot for car clubs. In fact, if you look on the Ypsilanti Convention & Tourism Bureau’s website, you see that they’ve got events planned for Volkswagens, Triumphs, Camaros and Model-Ts. But hey, this is Tucker Territory! If car club has a good reason to come to Ypsilanti for an annual meet, it’s us! The area is so rich with Tucker history and having hosted a convention in Chicago (the other Tuckertown), Ypsilanti is exciting because so much of the ‘artifacts’ are still here. Since the last Ypsilanti convention in 1997, the historic Tucker barn burnt down. Don’t miss this opportunity to look around – you might not get another chance to see everything.

As we always say, all this convention needs is you. And while that’s true, we also need your help in getting donations for the raffles and auctions. Whether you can make it to the convention or not, if you have any items you’d like to donate for this year’s auction please be sure to get them to Jay Follis or Bill Pommering no later than June 13th. Of course if anyone works for a company that has promotional items to give away, we’d appreciate those donations as well for the goodie-bags. These can be sent to me.

A few final notes on travel details if you are planning on flying in: The closest major airport is the Detroit Metropolitan/Wayne County airport (DTW). The airport is about 15 miles east and the Marriott DOES NOT offer an airport shuttle. You will need to make your own ground transportation arrangements if you are arriving at DTW. The hotel estimates taxi fare at $35. Unless you plan to make any side trips in the area a rental car is not necessary as TACA has chartered buses for convention activities.

Again, if you have any questions regarding the convention, please feel free to contact me directly at VP@TuckerClub.org

So go fill out that registration form, make those hotel reservations and we’ll see you in Ypsilanti – Birthplace of the Dream!
