Tucker Model Questions

Postby BlazeAllmighty » Sun Mar 23, 2008 7:44 pm

Hello Everyone. Just a Few Questions to Pick Your Brains.

I am trying to collect 1:18 Models of the Tuckers and am not sure what colors they came in.

I currently have White, Blue and Red. I am not sure what other colors to be on the hunt for but am looking.

I Currently have all made by YAT MING, Road legends, but I do not need to collect those only as long as they have the opening doors, windows, trunk, etc...

No asking to buy just want to know what colors I should be looking for.

THANKS!

Blaze:
I've seen 1:18 Yat Mings in Waltz Blue, White (really Ivory), Red and Red Metalflake finishes. Maybe they are available in other colors as well, but I haven't seen them myself.
Kyosho made a fantastic 1:18 Tucker in Waltz Blue, Black or Red. I don't know if they're still in production at this point or not. They're quite a bit more expensive than the Yat Mings, but the level of detail on the Kyoshos far surpasses the Yat Mings. I have one of each side-by-side on my shelf, and there's quite a difference in appearance.
BTW, would you consider joining our TACA club? It's a great group of people, the newsletters are fascinating, and the conventions are so much fun.

You can also get the Junk Yard Jewel Tuckers too pretty cool looking the company may restore or put say a Blue one to a Green one but you would have to ask them.

Hey,

I will be joining very soon (next day or two). The only regret that I have is I would not be able to go to the convention because I only get 1 Week of vacation at work and my wife and I are going to Ocean City. I will definetly miss the stop on the tour of the garage that was recently opened.

If you tell me that I may be able to sit in a real Tucker I may have to leave my wife (or make her divorce me when I tell her the family vacation is to the convention). LOL

Will be a member soon.

I have a question relating to the various collectable model Tucker cars I have seen. There seem to be two brands of these replica cars, and I see that both have what appears to be a "fuel filler door" on the upper drivers side front fender. But, the Tucker that I am familiar with - #7, which is owned and displayed by "LeMay - America's Car Museum" (I am a Docent with the museum) - does not have this fuel door, nor do the others I have seen pictures of. Is this door from some original design blueprint(s) that were changed before the car was produced? I believe the fuel filler neck is hidden beneith the hinged, chrome ribbed rear-quarter panel piece on the driver's side rear.

The early Tuckers had the filler door behind the rear driver side fender air vent since the fuel tank was under the back seat bat then after about the first 27 cars the gas thank was moved to the front and the door was added to the front fender.
