Has anyone noticed in Tucker 1004 it has the Cord shifting arm and lever its the only one ive noticed that doesnt have the rounded end on the shift arm? Can anyone elaborate on this why not 1001, 1002, or even 1003 has this was this restoration done because of Tucker design or changed ideas during the building process?

Easy to answer. Tucker had a Cord transmission a Cord selector that has the flat end on it. Those with the rounded end were originally made for the Y-1 transmission. However due to transmission troubles along the way you will find there are several cars with a Y-1 selector and a Cord transmission and some that have a Cord selector and a Y-1 transmission. Either control unit can be made to work with either the Cord or the Y-1 transmission.

Richard you always sum it up. I have some oics of you from the late 70's early 80's at some Tucker conventions along with an interior pic of 1023 it looks like actual levers for the door openers??? But they came from Russ Brownell his son Larry has loaned them to me to help me better understand the Tucker.

Tom, Tucker 1023 did have the lever door handles, not the push buttons as found on the other Tucker's. Why I have never found out. I might also note that Tucker 1023 had body No.1008. An answer as to why this vehicle was so far out of line with most of the others has never been explained. Many of the cars had body numbers the same as the serial number and several have body numbers that are within a few numbers of the serial number. The body and serial number of this car are 15 numbers off. No other Tucker has been found with this big a discrepancy.

What body number is on Tucker 1008? could it be that the person who had the 9 Tuckers at one time switched parts around to complete a very nice car with the best parts out of the two cars or more to restore the cars and left all the worst parts on one car?

Tom, Tucker Serial Number 1008 has Body Number 1010. No I do not think anyone including Nick Jenin would have gone that far to switch bodies. Basically the body would have to be cut off the Tucker. It was not just mounted on the frame with bolts. It was welded to the frame. In talks I had with Nick Jenin, the owner who had several Tucker's at one time he told me that he did swap some parts around and had all of his cars repainted and new interiors put in. I am sure he did not put all the "bad" parts into one car.
