Building A Dream

Postby TUCKER » Thu Feb 28, 2008 1:52 am

I am letting others see what I am working on but first here is a little this dream of mine and making my dream come true. For a long time I always loved the Tucker since I first found out about it white going to highschool about 10 years ago. I love the car so much I have always tried to get all I could on it like magazines, toys, books, photos and more. I just love the car so much. I have always wanted to have a Tucker so I started building my own Tucker with sheetmetal out of diferent cars and many panels I have been doing myself out of metal. It had not been easy to make blueprints and build it but I have been putting lots of time and love into my project. I do my work on it with love and for the love of the Tucker. I hope my dream become a reality someday. I have been putting my project bits and pieces using what I could find. I have started to build my dream about one year ago and here is what I have till now. I hope to find help and ideas from other members of the club and Tucker owners if posible to help me with my dream. I will show you a photo of what I have till now.

There has got be folks here that can give advice, insite, ideas for parts and encouragement to him to see thing through to the end.

I do not have a garage to work in and I am building it under a tree outside the house. I have worked under rain and it is not easy since metal rusts and I have to heep it with primer all the time. This is what I do for the love of a car.

Wow

That is amazing. I would love to see more pictures of it. What sort of cars did you use for the sheetmetal?

I have used many parts from many cars for the sheet metal. there are parts from a 1950 Dodge and more. none of the sheetmetal look the same now since I have reworked it all to get what I want since there is no car with the same panels as a Tucker. I have to build most of it from scrap metal I get at IPS who sell used and new scrap metal. I still need to build a frame for it but have no blueprints for it

Looks mighty nice from the photos, friend. It'll be great to eventually have another replica driving around. You seem to be in it for the long haul.

Once again, this is just amazing. Do you have any other photos of it?

For the frame, maybe the Tucker Club member with the test frame would allow you to study it so you could use it as a basis for your own frame.

Or as frames go... What did they use for a frame/chasis for the fiberglass models in the movie? Wasn't it like a 70s LTD?
I know the Lincolns from the late 40s had that “bubble” extensions in their front doors.. I would think Buicks, Pontiacs and Chevy's from the late 40s with the Sedanttes back ends would be a good starting point for the back
Also there has got to be folks here that could tell you what type of steering wheels where used.. radios are on ebay all the time....
but you could also make this a Tucker of today with AC, power windows
Hybrid engine...
What else folks? What else could he use?... Anyone out there got specs/prints for a frame? Ida could hook you up with tail lights ad some of the grill parts for the back fenders I bet....
Keep going! The Tin Goose II!!!!!
