Tremulis did not, as far as my own research goes, write a book.
The other question is answered on the club site 'The car is called the "Tucker '48" (for its model year). It was called the "Tucker Torpedo" as it was being designed and promoted.'
Roy,
Just a quick question here. From reading the above letter, it sounds as if Alex has passed on. If so when and what of? I know we all have to go at some point, but it is sad to acknowledge that another person involved with the Tucker project has departed.
Respectfully,
Forgot to mention that Alex did not write a book on the Tucker. However Phil S. Egan did write a book, "Design and Destiny: the making of the Tucker Automobile." Mr Egan was first hired by J. Gordon Lippincott and Company to work on one of the two clay Tucker models. He later became an assistant to Alex Tremulis. His book is available on the Tucker Automobile Pages in the Memorbilia Shoppe.
